DOROTHY IRBY COOK COX FUNERAL HOME BASTROP, LA. Mrs. Dorothy Irby Cook, a retired bus driver with the Morehouse Parish Schools, was born July 20, 1933 at Oak Grove, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday March 11, 2018 at Lagniappe Health Care in Bastrop, Louisiana. Mrs. Cook is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Cook; her parents, James Willie 'Bill" Irby and E.V. Peacock Irby; and her brother, James Willie Irby, Jr. Dorothy was a lady strong in her faith and service to her Lord. She possessed a gentle spirit and her family was blessed by her devotion and love for them. Mrs. Cook is survived by her four children, Martha Stephens and her husband Bill of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Debbie Higginbotham and her husband Mike, Wayne Cook and Christi Ivey, and Bruce Cook and his wife Angie all of Bastrop, Louisiana. She is also survived by nine grandchildren,Chad Hickman and his wife Michelle, Chris Stephens and his wife Brandi, Colby Stephens and his wife Heidi, Cory Wilson and her husband Jason, Kelly Murphy and her husband Jason, Kacy Kraft and her husband Zack, Dawn Cook, Christy Cook, and Alana Culbreath and her husband Brian; twenty three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services celebrating Mrs. Dorothy's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Bro. Jerry Stuckey and Bro. Jason Murphy officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Forest Corner Cemetery near Oak Grove under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 13th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Serving as pallbearers are Chase Price, Tyler Green, Landon Green, Chad Hickman, Colby Stephens, Kyler Stephens, and Josiah Murphy. Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Proverbs 31.
